4 Ways to Upgrade Your Home’s Interior in 2024

With much of the world working from home these days, it’s easy to snap photos of your family in memory-worthy moments, at all hours of the day. That’s why I want to make sure my home (and I’m sure you feel the same!) is Instagram-ready and up with all the 2024 interior design trends. Your photo album (and Instagram) is counting on it!

Much like fashion, interior design trends come around every year and create the perfect way to transition our homes for the new season. This coming year is no exception! Although some classic trends remain true from years past, we see a host of unique ways to incorporate style into your 2024 home décor.

If you’re looking to upgrade your home aesthetic this coming year and want to get some inspiration on what’s totally in and what will still look great for years to come, check out these top ways to refresh your home.

1. THE COLOR OF THE YEAR

Each year, Better Homes and Gardens releases their predictions for colors of the following year. BHG stated, “And while we still love the bold, expressive paint colors of 2023, we're already planning to incorporate this year's shades into our next renovation projects… Earthy, nature-inspired tones will be especially big... This year's trend forecast features earth tones like terra-cotta and moody forestcore-inspired picks that include a rich deep green. We're also seeing an influx of coastal-inspired blues, from light pastels to bold teals.” We are so lucky that these colors work with a myriad of our forever favorites! Are you bold enough to add one of these pops of color to your home?!

2. CLASSIC ADDITIONS

There will always be classic pieces that never go out of style, even if you change how you dress up your home’s interior. These pieces bring a sense of stability, sustainability, and versatility to your designs. Furniture such as leather sofas and natural materials such as hardwoods are classic and timeless pieces for your living spaces. Take a look at some examples from Article to see how timeless pieces will work in your home! I am obsessed with their furniture and blog!! With kids and pets, you will want to be sure to purchase scratch-and-stain-resistance interior items.

3. MINIMIZE CLUTTER FOR A MAXIMIZED EFFECT

Time to get real. Clutter happens, especially if you’re a mom. It crowds a room and takes the attention away from the interior design and styling that you worked so hard for. And let’s not forget that it causes unnecessary tension in the home, as well! To maximize the impact your furniture and décor pieces have in any room in your home, get rid of anything that detracts from it! (Marie Kondo knows what’s up!) Why wait until “Spring Cleaning” to get rid of extra stuff? Start now so that the clutter doesn’t continue creating a messy mental space and unnecessary stress. This doesn’t mean you need to get rid of everything, but it could be an excellent time to think about repurposing furniture or redesigning the space, so everything fits perfectly and creates fluidity from room to room.

4. CHOOSE QUALITY OVER QUANTITY

I’ll be the first to admit that I love a good bargain (Hello, Facebook marketplace and consignment stores!), but when this comes to homeware, buying things for the sake of it being cheap can start to overwhelm your life. (Throw away that chipped Willowtree figurine you found at a thrift store years ago. Something better will come along that really adds to your space!) To fit with a minimalist approach to clutter, avoid buying home décor unless you really truly need it!

I hope these 4 easy ways to upgrade your home’s interior will bring you happiness, creativity, and lots of happy memories (and more Instagram followers wouldn’t hurt)! As you’re upgrading your home’s interior for 2024, tag me in your photos and let me know how it’s changed your life!
